One of the better meals we had on the island of Corfu. Inside has a rustic feel with nicely spaced out tables presented well. Fresh and creative food from young team. Presented well and delicious. Starter €5, two main courses €45, dessert €10.
Congratulations to Angel and his team at Varkos Tavern. This place is an absolute gem. The food is delicious and made with local herbs, vegetables, olive oil and of course meats and fish. The owner and staff are extremely friendly. Wonderful hospitality, atmosphere, and excellent food and wine. We had the lamb shank and plan to come back for the grilled fish! Thank you for a lovely evening.
The best restaurant in all of Corfou! Delicious and refined courses, authentic and modern taste of Greek gastronomy. The Beef Ourzo was incredible, same for the Sea Bass carpaccio. Plates are elegant and courses elegantly arranged. Feels like haute cuisine in a simple & pleasant atmosphere. To top it off, service is warm and attentive. Too bad we went there on our last day, we would have gone again for sure. Thank you for having us!
A must visit for all food lovers. Traditional but innovative and delicious Greek cuisine, with meal options for everyone. Incredible and well thought out flavours, you can tell they love what they do and take pride in the food they serve.
After a morning at Issos Beach, we wanted to grab a bite to eat. Varkos Taverna was just a few meters from our parking spot, so we decided to stop by. We felt welcome from the very first moment. The young people working there seem to approach their work with such passion and dedication that I suspect it's their own taverna rather than just a place of employment. At the beginning, we were informed that there might be delays due to how busy they were. We didn't order that much, but since we wanted both cold and warm dishes, there was always something on the table and we experienced no delays whatsoever. Every dish we ordered was delicious and special. Each had that certain extra touch, and while I love traditional dishes at simple restaurants throughout Greece, here there was always something different that made each dish extraordinary. The Patates Tiganites with Xynomyzithra cheese were the absolute highlight. The potatoes were wonderfully seasoned, the cheese paired perfectly, and when my teenage daughter, who didn't like the cheese, dipped the potatoes in olive oil instead, we were brought even more oil. The kitchen staff member who brought us the dish told us with evident pride that both the potatoes and the olive oil came from his father's farm. I've been to Greece seven times in my life, and this is my first time in Corfu. Never have I dined as well as I did today at Varkos. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.
If I could give Varkos 10 stars I would. We have been in the catering industry most of our lives so to find a restaurant locally to us like this is an absolute treat! Varkos has a lovely "relaxed" atmosphere but with extremely attentive waiter ( Christos) who is both friendly but professional. If you are in a hurry then this is not the place to go as good fresh food takes time to produce and the dishes here are worth the wait! Some lovely original dishes we had not seen anywhere else showing a flair for innovation while still using local produce. Everything we had was delicious, the Carpaccio was amazing and the Beef cheeks just melted in the mouth!.... The sardines and cauliflower we had never seen on a menu before ... but again absolutely delicious! Highly recommended
We ate at Varkos on our last day in Corfu. The whole team is incredibly motivated and friendly, you can really feel that they love what they do. The service was top-notch, honestly close to what you’d expect at a fine dining or even Michelin-level place. The food? Absolutely delicious. Fresh, well-prepared, and full of flavor. On top of that, the location is beautiful — the perfect spot for a relaxing evening. Can only recommend it. We’ll definitely be coming back!
The food here is very good quality and genuinely delicious, although the potatoes in the soup were a bit undercooked. Portions are on the smaller side while prices are at the higher end, and I didn’t appreciate the staff trying to upsell extras. Overall, though, the flavours and presentation were excellent, and that’s why I’m giving it four stars — with just a few tweaks, it could easily be a five.
